DIY Mickey Thanksgiving Turkey Place Settings

, ,

Jazz up your Thanksgiving table this year, Disney style, with this simple DIY. Place setting cards are a functional and festive way to dress up your tablescape, so why not incorporate our favorite mouse?

MATERIALS

  • 2 different sizes of round wooden beads (large for the head, and smaller for the ears)
  • wooden spacer beads
  • black acrylic craft paint
  • paint brush
  • hot glue gun
  • assorted craft feathers
  • gift tags or similar for place setting cards
  • string or ribbon

*The number of beads you will need will depend on how many turkeys you are making. Remember each Mickey head needs two ears.

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1: PAINT BEADS Paint beads with the black acrylic paint and allow to dry.

STEP 2: MAKE IT MICKEY-SHAPED Carefully assemble the Mickey turkey using the hot glue gun.

STEP 3: FEATHERS Carefully attach the feathers to the Mickey turkey body using your hot glue gun. Get creative.

STEP 4: PLACE CARD With string or ribbon, tie the personalized place card around the turkey’s neck. (I find it easier to personalize the place cards before attaching to the turkey.)

FAQ

DO I HAVE TO PAINT MY BEADS? Absolutely not, you can leave them natural or paint them any color you’d like.

WHAT IF I WANT TO GET RID OF THE BEAD HOLES? If you don’t like seeing the bead holes, you can always fill them in with wood filler before painting.

MAKE IT MINNIE

Make a Minnie turkey by adding a small craft bow.
